What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle school science teacher position at Saint Joseph School - Needham?
General Description: The position of Middle School Science Instructor fulfills the mission of Saint Joseph School by designing and implementing a comprehensive Science curriculum for grades 6 – 8. In doing so, this instructor encourages students to think abstractly and critically as they assess the world around them. This is accomplished through the daily delivery of classroom instruction, lab experiments, and innovative program design. The individual must have experience in STEM education and a strong background in the sciences.
Essential Job Functions:
Ability to design and implement new lessons and curriculum
Ability to manage a classroom of students with a variety of learning needs
Experience in Middle School instruction
Experience in experiential learning and/or project-based learning
Specific Duties:
Design, implement, and evaluate a 6th – 8th grade Science curriculum
Instruct students in the basic operation of Google Suite applications and tools
Provide opportunities for collaboration and experimentation through the execution of regular lab experiences
Appropriate evaluate and assess student success and content mastery through standard instruments of assessment
Communicate with colleagues to support the general Middle School Division operation
Communicate and collaborate with parents in the education of all students
Seek out new opportunities to support and promote digital skills such as online research, digital citizenship, and technology literacy
Support after-school student help sessions
