What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Weekend Supervisor position at Saint Joseph Villa?
SUMMARY OF JOB:
This position is responsible for overseeing the shift staff and facility operation during the assigned shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow established standards of nursing practice and implement facility policies and procedures.
- Interpret existing policies and procedures to nurses, nursing assistants, residents, families and physicians.
- Participate in report at the beginning and end of shift and include sufficient information for follow-up action as needed.
- Provide supervisory oversight to shift staff.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within the assigned shift.
- Conduct disciplinary meetings with staff in accordance with Villa policy.
- Follow facility admission/ discharge/ transfer protocol.
- Assign nurses to patients and adjust schedules to cover call outs, if needed.
- Assist wing nurse in communicating resident admission to other departments and physicians.
- Ensuring nursing operational standards are met.
- Participate in survey by authorized government agencies.
- Practice infection control according to facility procedures.
- Document on residents’ progress notes as necessary.
- Listen to resident, family or physician concerns and initiate appropriate action.
- Identify resident problems, emergency situations, safety hazards and initiate appropriate action to resolve them.
- Completes annual compliance, assessments and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
- Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.
- Follows all local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- RN: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current license as an RN in the state of Pennsylvania
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of current nursing practices
- Knowledge of current pharmacological interventions and appropriate administration.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations in Long Term Care.
- Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and appropriate administration
- Basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Moderate to heavy physical effort
- Lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
- Balance of sedentary/mobility work
- Frequent kneeling/stooping/crouching/reaching/bending
- Frequently moves/lifts supplies or equipment
- Frequently transfers and re-positions residents
- Ability to communicate verbally.
- Reading/seeing/writing requires far and near visual acuity, field vision, and color vision to read written communications.
- Must be able to write legibly.
- Eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity to perform the duties as described above.
