Saint Leo the Great School is seeking a certified Spanish Teacher to fill a full-time temporary leave replacement teaching position for the 2024-2025 school year.
Spanish Teacher ( Grades 3rd, 4th, 5th,6th,)
Qualifications:
- New Jersey Teaching Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (CE)
- Subject Matter Specialization in Spanish
- Bachelor’s Degree or Graduate degree preferably in Spanish
- Excellent references
- Fluency in Spanish
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of Diocesan curriculum and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Educate students on the culture and history of countries that speak Spanish.
- Use a variety of age appropriate teaching tools for the purpose of teaching students to read, write, and speak Spanish including special equipment, and instructional technology as appropriate.
- Create age appropriate lesson plans and prepare classroom activities.
- Set appropriate tasks and challenges for assessments.
- Foster and encourage intellectual curiosity and creativity.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance and maintain student records.
- Establish and maintain consistent routines.
- Participate in in-service programs as needed and attend faculty/staff meetings as assigned by administration.
- Communicate and relate well with parents/guardians, administration, colleagues, and others through written and oral communication.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administration, and staff.
- Model professional and Christian behavior and demonstrate the morals and values contained in the Gospels including discretion, judgment, and integrity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration and its representatives.
Physical Demands:
- Stand for most of the day.
- Sit with and lean over students, as well as bend, crouch, stoop, kneel and crawl to assist individuals as permitted by social distancing regulations.
- Balance and walk around the classrooms. Reach out and above with hands and arms, up to interactive white board and bulletin board height.

- Climb stairs and/or use an elevator.
- Push or pull carts with educational equipment.
- Climb or stand on a short ladder.
