Photographer
Summary: Primarily responsible for the capture and post-production of images to be used by the Museum, eg. magazines, publications, website and social media, or archives. The Photographer will document events, installations, Museum initiatives, and departmental requests, as needed. The Photographer will also be responsible for ingestion of images and metadata into the Museum's Digital Asset Management System (DAMS). Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Photography Manager, various departments and stakeholders to determine upcoming opportunities to capture images, eg. tours, parties, exhibition openings, seasonal exterior shots, installation, headshots, etc.
- Collaborate with designers, marketing, and project managers to determine scope and outcomes
- Interact with the public and ensure that captured individuals sign images releases
- Follow institutional filenaming conventions, upload images to DAMS (Piction), add standardized metadata and keywords/tags.
- Use Adobe CC to edit images, including, color correcting, dust removal, and other manipulations to create professional, high-quality images.
- Create camera profiles for optimal colors.
Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years successful experience performing similar duties in a professional environment. Museum experience is preferred. Proven skill in image capture and post-processing is required. Highly proficient on PC, Adobe Creative Cloud; knowledge of X-Rite ColorChecker, and Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS) preferred. A high degree of organization, self-motivation, and great attention to detail is critical. Capable of managing, prioritizing, and tracking numerous projects and requests. Good color-vision with the ability to accurately assess the color, density, and contrast level of images. Excellent oral, written, and strong interpersonal communication skills required. Interest in fine art, photography and image creation, and visual culture.
