Job Description
The Opportunity: Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City MO is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist with surgical procedures, providing a safe environment in compliance with agency policies and procedures. The Surgical Technologist at Saint Luke's Hospital works within the organizational structure of the Operating Room, assists in the delivery of direct primary care to the patient experiencing surgical intervention.
Shift: 4 10’s 0645-1715. Five week rotating day off (if their day off is Monday the next week their day off will be Tuesday and so on. This gives them a 4 day weekend every 5 months.)
Within the organizational structure of the Operating Room assists in the delivery of direct primary care to the patient experiencing surgical intervention. Primary function is to assist with surgical procedures. Surgical Tech II demonstrates informal leadership by supporting change initiatives and quality improvement in the department.
In addition to routine Surgical Technologist responsibilities this position requires the Surgical Technologist II to be able to scrub cardiovascular surgical procedures including heart organ retrieval procedures. Position requires the Surgical Technologist to travel with a CV surgeon to perform the cardiac organ retrieval procedure.

- Individualizes and modifies care according to the patient’s needs
- Collaborates with other healthcare employees to enhance the provision of patient care
- Assumes a multi-skilled role, performing clinical and surgical functions
- Ensures appropriate supplies have been obtained for all surgical procedures performed
- Obtains necessary sterile instrumentation prior to procedures and hands-off contaminated instrumentation to decontamination with appropriate communication following procedures
- Complete qualifications and education to be a success coach (preceptor)
- Participates in at least two education or training programs annually e.g., mentoring, teaching peers, department in-service
