- JOB SUMMARY
The Hospital Operator is responsible for answering and processing routine and emergency hospital calls. Responsible for answering and processing all answering service calls. Responsible for responding to all emergency codes, procedures and alarms. Maintains Physician On-Call schedule and responds to Physician Posting Requests.

Ability to work with a heavy call volume accurately. Learn to operate hospital computerized call director console and the various alarm / emergency systems quickly and accurately. Keep accurate and complete records. Ability to work alone for eight hours. Learn and remember names, locations, numbers and emergency procedures. Think quickly and perform multiple tasks effectively under stress. Speak clearly and be courteous and polite when dealing with staff, patients and the public. Work odd hours and rotating shifts, including weekends. Type on a computer keyboard at a speed efficient enough to perform the tasks listed above. Consistently demonstrate the ability to handle difficult situations, at the same time meeting the communication needs of patients and staff with courtesy and efficiency.
