  • JOB SUMMARY
  • The Lead Diagnostic Echocardiography Technologist performs cardiac diagnostic procedures. Maintains patient files, prepares patient charges, performs general record keeping, inventory control, and quality control functions. Provides educational training and in-servicing.

    The Lead is responsible for existing job duties as well as leading staff through technical training and equipment updates. Collaborates on the ICAEL accreditation standards. Initiates communication with patient care staff and management as needed to facilitate positive change. Understands and stays current on standards and industry trends for the echocardiology field.

    • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education : Graduate of an accredited Medical Sonographer Program.

      Experience : Minimum of twelve (12) months echocardiology practice. Possesses knowledge of procedures performed and machinery used in each specialty modality.

      Licensure / Certification / Registration : Must be registered as RDCS by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or registered as a RCS by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and meet training and experience standards set forth by ICAEL for a qualified sonographer. BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or Military Training Network. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.

    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of principles and procedures of non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing; certificate of completion of CPR course. Ability to do skilled non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing procedures; to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions; to maintain records and prepare reports; maintain professional competency through continuing education, independent study, and departmental in-service; exercise good judgment and accept personal responsibilities, take calls as required for ultrasound procedures; support St. Lukes Hospital goals and objectives.

      Must demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate ideas, motivate others, resolve conflict, troubleshoot and multitask.

    • READING - Intermediate : Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • WRITING - Intermediate : Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
    • SPEAKING - Intermediate : Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

      Position 0.8-1.0 FTE to selected by applicant at time of hire.
