Saint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking daily substitute teachers for the 2024-2025 school year in grades pre-kindergarten through 8th grade.
Overview
Saint Patrick Catholic School, located in Norfolk, Virginia, is an independent Catholic school with an enrollment of approximately 400 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. With a mission to educate and nurture the whole child - mind, body, and spirit - to be a Christ-centered, compassionate, and courageous servant leader, the staff embraces cognitive psychology expressed by Dr. William Glasser to create a positive, internally motivating learning environment.

Responsibilities
- Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent
- Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
- Perform other duties as directed by school administration
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of child development, content expertise, and curriculum and policies; commitment to the belief that all students can learn characterized by appropriate management strategies that meet the needs of students; and instructional techniques that integrate reading, writing, math, faith, and technology throughout the content areas
- Experience with classroom management
- Ability to transition from task to task easily
- Effectively communicate with students and staff
- Committed to serving as a role model for students
- Experience teaching or working with digital technologies in the classroom is a plus
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in the applicable field of education (preferred)
- 1 year of related experience and/or training (preferred)
