Job Summary
The Saint Peter's Healthcare System is seeking a highly skilled Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instrument Preparation and Sterilization: Prepare instruments and specialty instrument trays for sterilization, adhering to hospital protocols and ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
- Instrument Set Prioritization: Prioritize instrument sets according to departmental needs, demonstrating effective time management and organizational skills.
- Efficient Workflow Management: Maintain efficient workflow by collecting items from designated areas and restocking procedure carts as required.
- Decontamination and Infection Control: Decontaminate reusable instruments, equipment, and supplies, adhering to strict infection control guidelines.
- Equipment Assembly and Preparation: Assemble and prepare patient equipment for use, guaranteeing optimal functionality and minimizing delays.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain equipment, including regular monitoring of function and performance.
- Supply Chain Management: Fill requests for medical/surgical supplies, procedure trays, and patient equipment, ensuring seamless supply chain management.
- Linens Preparation: Prepare linen for sterilization, upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- At least 6 months experience as SPD Tech I, with knowledge of Orthopedic, Vascular, Neuro, and ENT instrumentation.
- Familiarity with specific O.R. requirements for optimal functioning of instrumentation.
- The ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.
- Certification through a national sterile processing program recognized by New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
