Job Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Career Engagement and Experiential Learning (CEEL), the Career
Specialist oversees the operations of the Career Closet and all career-related activities funded by the Title V Bienestar:
Wellbeing for All grant. The Career Specialist serves as a career coach for the First Strut program and assigned cohort of
undergraduate students. The position will work closely with the Center for Academic Success and Engagement (CASE)
and CEEL to expand partnerships with organizations offering experiential learning and/or professional development
opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and group career coaching sessions to assigned student cohorts on interview skills, LinkedIn profiles, internship/job search techniques, and professional etiquette and attire.
- Oversee the operations of the Career Closet, including but not limited to supervision and coordination of career closet volunteers and student workers, tracking clothing inventory, coordination of clothing donations, and monthly reports as required.
- Build partnerships with local organizations and retailers providing professional clothing donations, outfit rentals, store discounts, or styling advise such as Suits for Success, JCP, Mens Warehouse, and MyCareerCloset. Conduct outreach to alumni and institutional partners to collect donations for clothing drives.
- Participate in the collection of data related to First Strut students internship/job and experiential learning outcomes as well as post-graduation career outcomes.
- Work closely with CASE and CEEL to expand experiential learning, employment, and professional development opportunities with local organizations and employers.
- Assist with on-campus and offsite recruiting events such as career fairs, employer informational sessions, networking events, and site visits as assigned.
- Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, staff, and University partners to create an annual Fashion Show event for students.
- Serve on related University committees.
- Attend admissions events and new student orientations
- Work on special projects as assigned
Hourly Rate: $29.12 - $30.22

Qualification Standards:
1- 3 years of experience as a job coach, career services and/or career advisement.
Superior interpersonal, customer-service and community relationship-building abilities
Proficiency in oral and written presentation and communication skills
Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team
Extensive experience in the use of relevant technologies, particularly with respect to assessments, career
development and employment tracking.
Education:
Relevant Bachelors Degree preferred;
Experience:
1- 3 years of experience as a job coach, career services and/or career advisement.
