Position Title: David M. Roderick Endowed Director of Libraries
Reports to: Vice President for Academic Affairs
Supervises: Professional and Paraprofessional Library Staff
Primary function: To oversee the Libraries of Saint Vincent Archabbey, College, and Seminary and to assure the Libraries’ continued support of the Catholic, Benedictine, and liberal arts mission of Saint Vincent.
Required Qualifications:
Education: MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution is required. An additional Master’s level or higher degree in an academic discipline is preferred.
Experience: Three to five years working in an academic library, with at least one year in a managerial capacity.
Essential duties:
- Prepare annual budget for the Library.
- Supervise professional, paraprofessional, and hourly staff.
- Oversee the formulation and implementation of acquisition and collection development policies.
- Serve as liaison to faculty, administrators, students of Saint Vincent College and Seminary, and to the larger community.
- Maintain the Catholic, Benedictine, and liberal arts tradition of Saint Vincent in the collection and the environment of the Library.
- Provide oversight and campus leadership for the formulation and implementation of information literacy initiatives consistent with the mission of the College and appropriate to its unique academic setting.
Other duties:
- Prepare data and reports when requested by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Office of Institutional Research, Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Directors, and others.
- Participate in the Academic Affairs Council in its meetings as scheduled by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
- Oversee and promote professional development of library personnel.
- Support and encourage staff members to take advantage of additional training and development programs available on campus or locally.
- Personally participate in and encourage and facilitate staff participation in other on-campus activities.
- Serve as ex officio member of the Educational Policies Committee (EPC).
- Serve as appropriate on other College and Seminary committees.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs, President, or Abbot.
