Graham School of Management and Saint Xavier University invites applications for a Professional Practice Assistant Professor in Accounting, to begin on or about August 15, 2025. The position is based in Chicago, IL.
The selected candidate is expected to contribute toward advancing the Graham School of Management's mission and vision through teaching, service, and scholarship. The Graham School of Management strives to develop business leaders with personal, professional, and service excellence. Whether a learner pursues a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), or a Master of Business Administration (MBA), our AACSB-accredited business curriculum will help them develop human and practical skills that help them obtain meaningful employment. The selected candidate will teach a course load of four courses per semester in accounting courses at the undergraduate level or graduate level.- Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Perform professional and certification activities sufficient to maintain Instructional Practitioner status under the Graham School's guidelines; Instructional Practitioners are characterized by those faculty members who use current professional experience to execute teaching excellence

- Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. Doctoral degree in Accounting, or a related field with significant research in Accounting, preferably from an AACSB accredited Business School.
2. Academic specialization in all areas will be considered.
3. ABDs will be considered but must complete their degrees prior to the start date or shortly thereafter.
4. Required competencies include:a. Demonstrated effectiveness in College Teachingb. Ability to successfully conduct scholarly research and publish, consistent with AACSB standards5. Offer evidence of teaching excellence and a scholarly commitment to the discipline.
6. Excellence in teaching (both face-to-face and online)
7. Knowledge in Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Excel and Outlook.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Additional Expectations
Applicants for the position must either (1) hold a terminal degree in Accounting or a related field or (2) hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or a related field and have five or more years of experience teaching or training in an academic or professional setting. The preferred candidate will have a documented track record of excellence in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the following areas: Individual and Corporate Taxation, and Accounting Information Systems.
