About SAINTPHAREUX Research Group

SAINTPHAREUX is an early-stage start-up at the forefront of developing innovative biomedical sensing technologies aimed at solving critical challenges in vascular health. Our current focus lies in the application of Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) for multi-point acoustic sensing for blood vessel characterization, a cutting-edge approach to detect vascular deposition, blockages, and other anomalies. This technology holds immense potential for a wide range of applications, from early detection of cardiovascular diseases to monitoring dynamic changes in blood flow in complex biological systems. Our broader goal is to advance diagnostic tools that provide early warnings of vascular complications before they become life-threatening, improving outcomes for patients with various vascular conditions. By leveraging acoustic sensing, computational modeling, and machine learning, we are working to create solutions that are both scalable and accessible, capable of transforming healthcare in both advanced medical facilities and under-resourced regions. Our flagship application focuses on the early detection of vaso-occlusive episodes in individuals with sickle cell anemia—a condition that disproportionately affects rural West African and African American communities. By identifying the early stages of these painful and potentially life-threatening episodes, we aim to significantly reduce suffering and improve quality of life for millions. This specific focus serves as a powerful motivation for our work, underscoring the larger potential of our technology to address other critical vascular conditions.

We are actively seeking funding from the NSF, private Venture Capital, and hope to attract interest from NGOs like WHO and Doctors Without Borders.

At SAINTPHAREUX, our vision is to create affordable, scalable diagnostic tools to improve access to healthcare in under-resourced regions.


Role: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow | Graduate Research Fellow

We are seeking motivated post-doctoral researchers and graduate research fellows who are passionate about contributing to a breakthrough technology that has the potential to save lives and improve healthcare globally. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in combining computational modeling, acoustic sensing, and real-world healthcare challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in micro/nano acoustic sensing technologies and their integration with CFD models.
  • Develop and validate mathematical models for detecting vascular blockages and anatomical variations.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to advance early diagnostic capabilities through novel machine learning algorithms and signal processing.
  • Participate in prototype development, simulation, and testing of diagnostic devices.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research proposals and publications.

Key Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in a relevant discipline (engineering, physics, computational medicine, or related fields).

WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Experience with computational modeling, particularly ANSYS (CFD) or related tools.
  • Experience with Power Electronics, MEMS ad Nanotechnology fabrication
  • Clinical experience in Hematology
  • Strong background in signal processing, machine learning, or control systems.
  • Experience with acoustic sensing technologies and biomedical applications is a plus.
  • A passion for impactful research with real-world applications in underserved communities.
