Product Category Manager, Remedies & Personal Care

We are hiring for two Product Category Managers and open to applicants from the Greater Vancouver Area and Greater Toronto Area.

The impact you'll make:

For over 30 years, Saje has been connecting people to the superpower of plants. Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the Product Category Manager will be responsible for managing the Remedies & Personal Care categories (including Remedy Roll-Ons, Bath, Body, Skincare etc.) by identifying opportunities to drive category growth, developing new products and analyzing commercial data (e.g., market trends, community member shopping habits, competitive insights and new product ideas).  

All Saje Team Members are responsible for contributing to Saje’s culture and maintaining a positive environment for themselves and their peers.

What you'll do:

Product Innovation & Conceptualization:  

• Work with the Director of Innovation to develop a 3-year innovation strategy and 24 month detailed calendar including innovative and trendsetting market strategies, promotional programs and product concepts 
• Create detailed innovation concepts that kick-off the innovation process and outline the financial opportunity for Saje
• Focus on high-value innovations, with the objective of delivering new HERO products to our community members – products that they can’t live without and that they come back frequently to repurchase
• Collaborate closely with R&D to take new products from the ideation to commercialization phase
• Test and provide feedback on formula prototypes to ensure innovations meet the Saje standard
• Proactively remain on top of the fast-moving competitive and market landscape to identify future opportunities 

 
Category Management:  

• Accountable for the successful creation and execution of category strategies for Remedies & Personal Care that deliver against our product vision and meet financial goals (e.g. revenue, units, margin, adoption rates, repeat purchase rates)
• Create recommendations for SKU discontinuations along with strategies to replace lost sales
• Develop an aroma and format architecture that meets our community members’ core need states & provides for easy navigation in-stores and online
• Position new product developments to reach new community members and fulfill novel need states to minimize cannibalization of the core assortment
• Develop a rhythm of limited edition launches throughout the year that keep our community members engaged and introduce them to new product formats 

Cross-Functional Leadership:  

• Key cross-functional relationships for this role include those with R&D, Regulatory, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Finance and the Go-To-Market teams
• Serve as the ambassador and chief storyteller for the categories to the rest of the organization – create internal excitement around new product launches
• In partnership with the Director of Innovation, share concepts and strategies with the CEO and Executive Team for sign-off and funding 

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• 5 years of product development, category management or merchant buying experience in a related field; preferably in the Cosmetic, Wellness or CPG industries
• Entrepreneurial, innovative and creative mindset; able to spot or create original, authentic product opportunities 
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities 
• Product storyteller, with a demonstrated ability to build internal excitement around product developments
• Team player who works productively with a wide range of people in cross-functional teams 
• Solid work ethic with desire to achieve team goals and company revenue targets 
• Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills 
• Bachelor’s degree in related field required

The compensation range for this position is from $95,000 – 110,000 annually.
