Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing project plans, requirements and specifications;
- Preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing;
- Coordinating subcontract solicitations and jobwalks;
- Determining labor and construction equipment costs;
- Preparing conceptual estimates;
- Meeting and maintaining bidding and work schedules;
- Submitting requisitions for purchase of materials;
- Comparing competitive trade bids;
- Reviewing preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager;
- Securing all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters);
- Preparing subcontractor bid list and submitting drawings to subcontractors;
- Participating in bid compilation on bid day;
- Assisting jobsite staff with estimates after bid award;
- Performing post-bid buyouts (if applicable);
- Maintaining good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors;
- Supervising and training estimating staff (if applicable).
