Affholder Construction has an immediate opportunity for a Project Account to join our team in Austin, TX. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, and providing financial support to the project team. This role involves regular reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and collaborating with project managers, superintendents and other stakeholders to ensure projects stay on budget and meet financial targets. Additionally, an individual serving this role would aid in all administrative activities needed to properly execute a construction project included administering payroll, purchase orders, creating subcontracts, managing daily reports, handling expense reports. Affholder is an industry leader in tunnel construction and provides the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and accomplished professionals in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the financial aspects of assigned construction projects, including budget preparation, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, ensuring that costs are properly allocated and tracked against actuals.
- Review and approve invoices from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate reporting of project financials.
- Maintain detailed records of project expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Monitor cash flow on construction projects, ensuring that payments are made and received on time.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for senior management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cost-to-complete estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of project financial forecasts and provide guidance on financial performance.
- Payroll Administration: Process and review payroll for project teams, ensuring accuracy in timekeeping, deductions, and compliance with labor laws.
- Purchase Order Management: Generate, track, and reconcile purchase orders, ensuring alignment with project budgets.
- Subcontract Administration: Draft, review, and manage subcontract agreements, ensuring compliance with project terms and conditions.
- Expense Tracking: Review, process, and reconcile employee expense reports for accuracy and policy adherence.
- Daily Reporting: Collect, review, and maintain daily reports from field personnel to track labor, materials, and equipment usage.
- Document Management: Maintain organized financial and administrative records, including contracts, invoices, change orders, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2 years of accounting experience preferred. Construction experience preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar).
- Understanding of construction contracts, billing, and cost structures.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
