Affholder Construction is actively seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Controls Specialist to join our growing team in O’Fallon, MO. The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for supporting the planning, scheduling, cost control, and performance management of construction projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with contractual requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Project Scheduling & Planning:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of detailed project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Assist in defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Track and report on project progress, including delays, changes in scope, and schedule adjustments.
- Perform regular schedule analysis to identify potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Cost Management & Budgeting:
- Assist in developing project budgets and cost estimates.
- Track and report on project costs and expenditures, ensuring they align with the approved budget.
- Analyze cost variances and assist in implementing corrective measures when necessary.
- Risk Management & Reporting:
- Identify and assess project risks, proactively working to mitigate or resolve issues that could impact project success.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management regarding project status, including schedule, cost, and risk assessments.
- Assist in maintaining a risk register, monitor risk impacts, and track risk mitigation efforts.
- Quality Control & Performance Monitoring:
- Ensure all project controls processes are followed consistently and accurately.
- Review contractor/subcontractor performance and schedule adherence.
- Perform earned value analysis (EVA) to assess project performance and identify trends.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure that project schedules and budgets are adhered to.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates and address project control concerns.
- Assist in preparing and facilitating project meetings, including progress meetings and client updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong working knowledge of scheduling and project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project). Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Experience with cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other relevant certifications (e.g., AACE, PMI-SP, or similar) a plus.
