DESCRIPTION
Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships, part of SAL Community Services, is the Quad Cities areas leading provider of early childhood care and education. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for.
The Family Advocate works with Early Head Start families and provides them with appropriate health, special needs, nutrition, and mental health information, resources and referrals while addressing the family’s social service needs and providing parent engagement opportunities that improve their family life and their child’s school readiness. You will:
- Work with parents/guardians through a relationship-based approach to facilitate the process of identifying their individual and family strengths and needs.
- Provide referrals and follow up in accordance with the policies and procedures to ensure the family’s needs have been met.
- Conduct parent education and other trainings for parents/guardians.
- Responsible for conducting monthly parent meetings and facilitating the election of Policy Council Representatives.
- Maintain accurate and timely family files and data entry into e-system to ensure all required documents and signatures are obtained and transfers and terminations are appropriate and complete.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A full list of job responsibilities will be provided prior to an interview. Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field or Bachelor’s degree with two (2) years’ experience working with high-risk families in social work field that focuses on family dynamics, infant and toddler development, and possess knowledge of community resources and skills to link families with appropriate agencies and services. Ability and willingness to work in a program located in a high-risk, low-income community with diverse cultures, communications styles, and norms. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree plus more than two years of experience as listed above.
