Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Central Characterization Program (CCP) Visual Examination Expert (VEE) to join our team located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will obtain qualification as a CCP Visual Examination Expert. Perform visual examination of nuclear waste. Verify the physical form of the waste is approved and prohibited items are excluded. Interact with and lead visual examination operators and other SIMCO teams in problem solving of off normal conditions, new packaging configurations, and unfamiliar waste. Create, review and approve Visual Examination Batch Data Reports with an emphasis on attention to detail. Responsible for the overall direction and implementation of Visual Examination of Transuranic (TRU) and TRU-mixed waste at there site. Ensure VE DQOs are met. Assist in the development of new VEOs. Will be required to be familiar with onsite work locations and site POCs. Along with have expert knowledge of the waste expected to be encountered at the facility.
The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday: 6:30am to 5:00pm or 10:00am to 8:30pm.
Exempt Grade Levels (28-31)

- Bachelors degree, or
- Associates degree with four (4) years of working experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of working experience is required.
- Must hold or have previously held qualifications as a CCP VEE.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Q clearance and HRP Certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory.

Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

- Demonstrated working knowledge of CCP TRU Waste Characterization activities and Visual Examination Process is a plus.

Minimum salary $69,444 per year of a larger salary range --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidates relevant experience and education.
