Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Security Police Officer to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will serve as a Security Police Officer in support of Protective Force operations at the Department of Energy Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Provide physical security for a nuclear facility to include protection of nuclear/ radiological materials, employees and visitors, government property, and sensitive information. Respond to security and non-security related incidents, and interface and coordinate with other first-responders. Investigate security-related incidents and interview witnesses, reporting persons, and victims, and complete detailed Security Incident Reports. Conduct vehicle and foot patrols and detect unusual activities; control and search materials, vehicle and pedestrian traffic and restrict access to those without proper identification and access authorization. Operate government vehicles, communications equipment, camera systems, and other special purpose security equipment and systems. Enforce standards of conduct and adherence to laws, orders, and regulations. Ensure that daily administrative documentation is kept concise and complete at all times; maintain all daily assigned equipment in functional and presentable condition. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
The Security Police Officer position requires demonstrated effective oral, analytical, and written communication skills, and the ability to be professionally assertive when required in the performance of duties. Completion of a satisfactory medical examination and physical fitness testing prior to start date in accordance with 10CFR1046 is required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to pass the Basic Readiness Standards (BRS). The BRS consists of completing the half-mile in 4 minutes 40 seconds or less and the 40-yard dash from the prone position in 8.5 seconds or less.
After you are hired, you must be able to pass a Federal background investigation and obtain a DOE Q Security Clearance within two (2) years of your start date, and maintain that clearance to continue employment. Continued employment requires successful completion of the TRF-100 (Tactical Response Force) within two (2) years of the date of hire date.

- High School Diploma or Equivalency is required.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid, unrestricted drivers license.
- Must have practical experience and be proficient in software applications such as MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelors degree.
- Active Top Secret or Q security clearance.
- Two (2) years of military, Security, and/or Law Enforcement experience.
- Previous WIPP Project experience.
