Warehouse/Property Clerk

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Warehouse/Property Clerk to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The successful candidate will lead the Excess and Surplus disposition process. Interface with other Federal Agencies, recyclers and auctioneers for disposal of excess property. Data entry into the Personal Property Management System. Data entry for excess and new property, tagging property that meets tagging requirements. Maintain site excess listing. Participate in the quarterly and monthly reviews of the custodial agreements. Work with the Sustainability group at WIPP as the Property Management lead in organizing the Clean Up Days held at the WIPP Site and In-Town Facilities. Assist in maintaining the motor vehicle program that includes DOE owned and General Services Administration leased vehicles. This includes Monthly and Quarterly reporting to DOE. Monthly review of Sunflower records by comparing Equipment Numbers in the Work Control database, CHAMPS to ensure all equipment is tagged appropriately. Conduct a quarterly property verification. The successful candidate will work with the Property Management Team and perform other duties as required and interface with customer and co-workers on a frequent basis. Position requires heavy work (able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds) to be performed in varied conditions indoors and out, transporting self and equipment to various locations via uneven ground and in low light conditions underground.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to work under limited supervision. Position requires professional interaction with a wide variety of customers and customer demands under potentially stressful conditions. Must be able to recognize and react appropriately to hazardous materials and situations. Frequently works alone in a remote area, dusty environment.

Non-Exempt Grade Level(s) (24-26)

• Associate's degree with two (2) years of work experience, or
• High School Diploma or Equivalency with four (4) years of work experience is required.
• Ability to pick up 35 lbs. is mandatory.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess adequate strength and coordination to operate a wide variety of equipment including hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word systems is required.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

Preferred Requirements:

• Forklift and pallet jack experience is preferred.
• Experience with Sunflower software system is desired.
• Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Minimum salary $53,509 per year of a larger salary range -- the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
