The Job
Salas O’Brien is looking for an on-site Construction Manager (Electrical) to oversee the construction phase of projects.
Contract Position: As a member of the client site services team, you will be in a contract position for specific project work and time frames with opportunity for additional project contracts in the future and ongoing.
Your Background And Job Requirements
To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:
- Must have general knowledge of working in a manufacturing / production facility.
- Understands high level of safety for personnel and the equipment being worked around
- Will assist in putting together method of procedures for construction activities
- Coordinates activities with both client project managers and manufacturing production facility managers / personnel.
- Owner’s Representative: Represent client as the interface between the contractors and the owners
- Daily report and activity log generation
- Run daily meetings with contractors and other personnel on site
- Conference Calls
- Contractor coordination and management
- Work with the individual contractors to assist in coordinating efforts
- Be the interface between the contractors and the design team to answer questions in real-time
- Manage schedules
- Ensure each contractor is communicating their needs and milestones to prevent any setbacks
- Solve on-site issues and coordinate questions / answers
- Document issues resolutions and correspondence
- Provide quality control of installations
- Ensure best efforts are being performed in a live critical facility (cleanliness and organization of efforts)
- Communicate with the design engineer(s) or project manager on any interpretation of our construction documents
- Client Specific Requirements
- Perform duties related to construction management as required by the end client

- Must be able to work effectively with various discipline construction contracts (civil/structural/architectural, mechanical/process, electrical, building fire alarm / fire protection, and others related to construction)
- Must be able to coordinate and collaborate with local code officials diplomatically and effectively
- Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook email, Outlook Calendar), and miscellaneous software. MS Project a plus.
- Manage change orders and impacts to project (Safety, Risk, and Cost/quality/schedule).
- Ability to recognize and gauge when to delegate authority and elevate issues appropriately
- A basic working knowledge of a computer - Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, plant personnel, and construction personnel in the same project
- Choose subcontractors and delegate their responsibilities
- Responsible for any delays, emergencies and problems that can arise during construction
- Responsible to ensure safe plans of work and working with contractors to ensure safe work practices
- Responsible to promote cooperation, collaboration, and safety between different contractors / disciplines working in same areas under time constraints
- Comply with client safety and building codes as well as legal requirements
- Report project progress and budget to client
- Explain contract and technical matter to others in a clear manner
- Prepare budget and cost estimates, along with work timetables
- Ensure construction safety protocols are followed
- Establish risk factors, then manage and mitigate them to ensure construction goes smoothly
- Work with local authorities on permits, licenses, certifications, and inspections as required
- Coordination and scheduling of contractors and construction work to be performed on site
- Coordination and scheduling with plant personnel of construction activities
- Reporting on construction progress, metrics, and site personnel
- Orientation to site safety program of contractors
- Record keeping of metrics
- Coordination, management, and Corrective action to contractors in accordance with engineering plans, drawings, and installation instructions.
- Coordination, management, and corrective action to contractors in accordance with site / project safety standards and plans.
- Administration of plans, schedules, and job specific tasks
- Interpretation and coordination of engineering drawings to construction activities and scheduling
- Any (1) of the following
- 5 or more years Construction Experience in Industrial or Commercial Construction as a Trade (Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Civil, or other related. Could be as a pipefitter, millwright, ironworker, carpenter, welder, or other trade.
- Associate’s degree in a technical field related to design, construction, or engineering
- With 3 years or more related construction / field / industrial plant project experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to design, construction, or engineering
- With 3 years or more related construction / field / industrial plant project experience
- After initial project is complete in Hebron, OH: ability to travel or relocate as needed for short term and long term assignments.
- Lifting/carrying: Carrying light loads related to field measurement equipment, equipment cases weighing 15 lbs. or less.
- Dexterity: Ability to type using a keyboard with relative efficiency, ability to make handwritten notes and sketches indoors and outdoors at industrial plant and construction sites at any time of the year.
- Walking/Climbing: Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted. Ability to crawl in to areas if necessary.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to discern single line and 3 dimensional computer images representing objects being designed or drafted.
- Hearing: Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
- Physical exertion: Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year. Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
- Breathing: Ability to work while wearing a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus if required on a project..
