Haag, a Salas O'Brien company, a leader in forensic engineering and consulting since 1924, is seeking a Senior Accountant for the Flower Mound office. This is a hybrid role working 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely each week.

SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSILBILITES:
- Assists the Controller to maintain the general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all company transactions; reviews entries to the general and subsidiary ledgers to assure accuracy and compliance with the company’s and established accounting principles.
- Responsible for assisting with the monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries.
- Responsible for maintaining computerized accounting system, backup control, assisting other accounting staff with questions and printing of computer generated reports and statements.
- Administers preparation of interim, year-end, and comparative financial reports; performs and provides analysis of current results to prior periods and/or budget. Prepares required government reports as directed by the Controller and responds to inquiries as necessary.
- Stays current with developments, practice trends, and promulgations in the accounting profession; monitors accounting systems and recommends new or revised policies and procedures.
- Assists the Controller in training and management of accounting staff.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts; verifies accuracy of bank statements and resolve questions or problems; maintains integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems.
- Maintain other accounts, reconciliations and performs other accounting duties, as required or requested by the Controller.
- Any other job related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, with a minimum of three years’ related experience with progressive responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated accounting reporting techniques and financial principles.
- Familiarity with Excel is required, preferably with knowledge of advanced formulas, Power Pivot and other advanced reporting features.
- Experience with cloud-based ERP accounting systems and Concur expense system preferred.
- Effective ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with all levels of employees.
- Builds and maintains cooperative working relationships.
- Maintains enthusiasm and a sense of urgency towards work.
- Accepts and adjusts to changes in work priorities willingly and efficiently.
- Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems.
- Must be able to apply statistical calculations, analysis of variances and other analytics.
- Must be able to understand and utilize common financial reports and legal documents.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None required at this time. CPA or CMA candidate preferred but not required.

No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines. Also included is the ability to open and close common business filing cabinets.
Primary environment: The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer and/or calculator.
