Structural Engineering Manager
Our office in Lakewood, CO is looking for a Structural Engineering Manager to help manage and grow our existing dynamic team. We specialize in the design of commercial buildings including schools, healthcare, police and fire stations, office buildings, worship spaces, industrial facilities, petrochemical control buildings, luxury resorts, and more. Our design professionals support projects all over the US and Canada and integrate with multi-discipline engineering teams on a wide array of projects. This is an opportunity to drive and expand an energetic team and learn from professionals with many years of experience.
Specific duties will include:
- Manage operations and assist with Business Development encompassing 3 studios: Building Design, Cold-Formed Steel, and Non-building Structures
- Lead and Grow our Building design Studio
- Interact with clients regarding technical design issues, coordination of document preparation, and submittal schedules
- Mentor and train younger engineers and team members
- Oversee production of engineering documents such as reports, calculations, 3D models and drawings that are complete and technically accurate
- Utilize and train others in design software such as RISA, RAM, Concept, Bluebeam, and REVIT to produce construction drawings
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- 10 years of experience in consulting structural engineering with commercial building focus
- 5 years of experience in a management and business development role overseeing similar breadth and depth of structural engineering services offered by Salas O’Brien
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in good standing
- The desire to work towards the Company's goal of excellent and timely service.
- Experience in the following commercial building construction systems is required:
- Reinforced and post-tensioned concrete
- Reinforced masonry
- Structural steel and composite steel
- Commercial wood and heavy timber
- Shallow, deep and raft foundations
- Concrete, masonry and wood shear wall systems
- Steel braced frame and moment frame systems
- Experience in the following is a plus:
- Registered Structural Engineer
- Cold-formed Steel
- Seismic design categories D, E and F
- Extreme wind loading
- Blast-resistant structures
- Flood resistant structures
- Advanced degree
- Strong time management skills and self-starter a must
- Ability to learn from, and work with other team members
- ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil or Structural Engineering
