Job Title : Lean Manager (Manufacturing)

Job Summary : The Lean Manager is responsible for leading the implementation and continuous improvement of Lean Manufacturing principles within the organization. This role involves driving operational efficiency, reducing waste, and improving overall production processes. The Lean Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, lead projects aimed at streamlining operations, and ensure that Lean methodologies are embedded throughout the manufacturing environment to enhance productivity, quality, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities :

Lean Implementation :

Lead the development and execution of Lean Manufacturing strategies and initiatives across all production areas.

  • Develop and implement Lean tools and techniques (such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Kanban, and Root Cause Analysis) to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Guide teams in the adoption of Lean principles, ensuring they understand the philosophy and practical application of Lean methodologies.

Process Improvement :

Identify and evaluate opportunities for process improvement across all aspects of the manufacturing environment.

  • Lead process improvement projects aimed at reducing cycle time, minimizing waste, increasing efficiency, and improving product quality.
  • Work with departments such as production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain to ensure continuous process optimization.
  • Waste Reduction :

    Drive initiatives focused on reducing operational waste (e.g., time, materials, energy, motion, defects) and improving resource utilization.

  • Implement systems for monitoring and controlling waste, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the reduction of non-value-added activities across all stages of production.
  • Training and Mentoring :

    Provide training on Lean tools and principles to all levels of staff, from operators to management.

  • Mentor employees and management teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and Lean thinking throughout the organization.
  • Develop and conduct workshops and coaching sessions to drive Lean awareness and sustain improvements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration :

    Collaborate with production managers, engineers, quality assurance, and other departments to implement Lean initiatives and address challenges.

  • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings, problem-solving sessions, and Kaizen events to drive improvements.
  • Support the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with Lean principles.
  • Performance Measurement and Reporting :

    Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress of Lean initiatives.

  • Analyze performance data to assess the impact of Lean projects and adjust strategies as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Report on the status and results of Lean projects to senior management, providing updates on savings, efficiency improvements, and other key metrics.
  • Sustainability and Continuous Improvement :

    Ensure sustainability of Lean initiatives through regular audits, performance reviews, and ongoing employee engagement.

  • Create a continuous improvement culture where team members regularly suggest and implement changes to enhance processes.
  • Champion the use of Lean tools in both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.
  • Safety and Compliance :

    Ensure that Lean improvements align with all safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Work closely with safety teams to ensure that Lean initiatives do not compromise worker safety or compliance standards.
  • Skills and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing or operations management, with at least 2-3 years focused on Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt) is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Lean tools and methodologies such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, SMED, TPM, Kanban, etc.
  • Proven track record of leading process improvement projects and delivering measurable results in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Lean Manufacturing software tools is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to typical production equipment and machinery.
  • Occasional travel to manufacturing sites or off-site locations may be required.
  • Ability to move around the production floor and observe operations closely.
  • Work Environment :

  • Office and manufacturing floor environments.
  • Close interaction with production teams, engineers, quality control, and other departments.
  • Fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
