What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Nursing Instructor position at Salem Community College?
Role:
The individual will assume teaching responsibilities, teach assigned classes and/or lab/clinical and develop coursework needed for teaching under the direction and supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
The individual will participate in ongoing program evaluation activities as needed and confers with the CNO to ensure compliance with Board policies as well as communicate with the DON as necessary to resolve student issues or concerns.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan and assign student activities in the classroom/lab/clinical setting.
• Maintain records of student progress and performance, attendance and grades, in addition to preparing, administering, and grading, written and practical examinations.
• Maintains regular communication with Chief Nursing Officer and Full Time Nursing Instructor(s).
• Participate in ongoing program evaluation activities as needed.
• Confers with the CNO to ensure compliance with Board of Nursing regulations.
• Discuss with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to learning experience.
• Works effectively as part of the faculty team demonstrating positive interpersonal relations, collaborating with other faculty members to meet student needs, and participating in faculty meetings.
• Provides expectations and standards for course assignments that demonstrate academic rigor in accordance with the course module.
• Provides documentation of progress and reports to the CNO and Nursing Instructor(s).
• Maintains student records and progress in either the classroom or lab/clinical setting.
• Performs other duties as assigned in support of students enrolled in the Nursing programs.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: Master’s degree in Nursing required for Associate Degree Nursing Program.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing required for Practical Nursing Program.
Experience: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and at least one year of clinical experience in an acute health care facility required.
Interpersonal Skills Ability to work effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, and external constituencies.
Technical Skills Working knowledge of current and emerging computer hardware.
A successful criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.
