What are the responsibilities and job description for the GEAR UP/College Bound Curriculum Specialist position at Salem Community College?
Role: The Curriculum Development Specialist’s primary responsibility is to develop, implement and monitor the curriculum for the academic programs of the Penns Grove Carneys Point School District and GEAR UP/College Bound Program to insure that the curriculum meets with the programs stated goals and objectives.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret, and implement curriculum guidelines.
- Understanding of Assessment & Evaluation / Unit Planning / Lesson Planning
- Grading & Scheduling
- Understanding of alternative assessments as measures
- Gather and disaggregate data to inform all decisions
- Facilitate and present professional development for staff
- Provide training for staff and team members related to pedagogy, literacy, and transactional skills to achieve the best outcomes for students.
- Ability to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and conduct observations in the classroom
- Track student progress / course goals /objectives and outcomes
- Ensure that all Performance Standards are met.
- Identify and utilize state and local resources within the community, and maintain positive relationships.
- Oversee and implement curriculum and best practices to ensure quality teaching and learning.
- Provide instructional leadership to ensure quality teaching and learning.
- Provide data from instructional outcomes to the Director
- Ensure the integration of technology to support instruction
- Develop and revise Instructional Plan to meet Performance Standards
- Develop a Self-Assessment process in accordance with program guidelines.
- Evaluate and measure program outcomes, analyze data, and prepare reports.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Successful classroom teaching experience. Knowledge of curriculum design; thorough understanding of differentiation and common core curriculum standards.
Education Bachelor’s Degree in education or a specific contact, required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Interpersonal Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
Technical Skills Working knowledge of current and emerging computer hardware and software, including all Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of social media.
Other Skills Knowledge of office management systems. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Attention to detail and problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to deliver speaking presentations to small and large audiences
Physical Requirements The work is mostly sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (e.g., lifting boxes of brochures, carrying books and supplies, setting up exhibits, etc.), driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel necessary.
