Job Title: Career Coach
Reports To: High School Principal
Work Days: 194 Days (Non-Certified)
Employment Status: Full-Time
Job Summary:
The Career Coach will support students in meeting the new Indiana high school diploma
requirements, including career exploration, work-based learning, and postsecondary
readiness. This position will assist students in developing individual career plans, securing
internships or apprenticeships, and navigating pathways that align with their interests and goals.
The Career Coach will collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and local industry partners
to provide students with real-world career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Guide students through Indiana’s new high school diploma requirements, including
Career-Technical Education (CTE) pathways, industry certifications, and work-based
learning experiences.
- Assist students in identifying career interests and developing personalized
postsecondary plans.
- Coordinate and oversee work-based learning experiences, including internships,
apprenticeships, and job shadowing.
- Establish partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to create
career opportunities for students.
- Support students in completing career-related requirements such as resumes, job
applications, and mock interviews.
- Work closely with school counselors and teachers to align academic coursework with
career pathways.
- Organize career fairs, employer visits, and student field trips to businesses and technical
training programs.
- Assist students in meeting graduation pathway requirements by tracking progress and
providing necessary interventions.
- Provide career coaching sessions, workshops, and presentations on employability skills
and workforce readiness.
- Maintain student records, collect data, and report on student outcomes related to career
readiness.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher preferred; relevant work experience in career
coaching, workforce development, or education may substitute for formal education.
- Experience: Background in career advising, workforce development, business/industry
partnerships, or student services preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills. Ability to
work with students, educators, and business leaders to create career development
opportunities.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Indiana’s new diploma requirements, graduation pathways,
and work-based learning expectations is preferred.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications)
- Benefits: Eligible for district employee benefits, including health insurance and
retirement
