Your Role With Us:
Salem Health’s 30 bed cardiovascular unit is situated on the 5th floor of the Critical Care Tower. The CVCU, as a Beacon Silver Award recipient, functions using a model of shared governance. The CVCU staff is represented by the unit Special Practice Team (SPT) consisting of Registered Nurses, the Leadership Team (Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Managers), Critical Care Techs, and Certified Nursing Assistants.
The CVCU nursing staff has the opportunity for advancement through its professional development pathway, which utilizes the Benner’s novice to expert nursing theory as a framework. From beginning intermediate level care through open heart recovery and care, identified as Levels 1 – 6, education and clinical orientation are provided. Specific credentialing opportunities for nurses includes Immediate Post Open Heart Recovery, IABP, IMPELLA, CVVH, NIHSS, swallow screening, and sheath removal.

Background/Expertise:
- BSN or BAN or non-nursing Bachelor’s Degree.
- For internal applicants, preference may be given to applicant with BSN.
- ADN with 5 years of experience or ADN an agreement to complete BSN or MSN within 3 years of hire
- Current and unrestricted Oregon license.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience required.
- BLS required.
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
- ICU experience preferred
- IABP, IMPELLA, and Immediate Open Heart Recovery experience preferred.
