Your Role With Us:
In this role, you will support Salem Health Medical Group through assigning codes for professional billing services. As a coder you will utilize current ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPC guidelines. You'll be abstracting information from the electronic medical records and entering codes or other data into the EPIC computer system. It's an expectation that the coder will maintain or exceed all established departmental daily/monthly productivity and accuracy targets.
Primary Functions:
- Abstracts medical records and accurately assigns professional (physician) codes utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS Level II coding systems for two or more specialties.
- Maintains professional coding knowledge and credential, and is able to comprehend, apply, and retain information received from various sources.
- Maintains or exceeds CEU’s as required by licensing governing body AAPC, AHIMA and provides proof of credential maintenance prior to its expiration.

Background/Expertise:
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant outpatient CPT/ICD-10 (procedural and diagnoses) coding experience preferred.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder – Associate (CPC-A), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required.
- Must Reside in the state of Oregon-No exceptions.
