Your Role With Us:
The Coder I with Salem Health, is responsible for assigning codes to diagnoses, procedures and revenue codes utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
Primary Functions:
- Production: Assigns codes to the assigned department(s) records utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems while maintaining a productivity rate of 192 per day in ancillary coding and 96 per day in Emergency Department Coding or Convenient Care Coding.
- Must maintain and sustain a 95% accuracy rate.
- Enters diagnoses, procedures and revenue codes in EPIC; adds Account Notes and updates ADT information in EPIC; manages assigned work queues in EPIC. Abstracts information from the medical record and enters data into the EPIC system.

Background/Expertise:
- Graduation from an AHIMA or AAPC accredited college or trade school preferred.
- Completed classes in anatomy & physiology and medical terminology
- Previous coding experience within a multi-specialty hospital preferred.
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant outpatient CPT/ICD-10 (procedural and diagnoses) coding experience preferred.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC-H), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required.
- Must Reside in the state of Oregon-No exceptions.
