Your Role With Us:

• Responsible for courteously and professionally screening patients by phone, obtaining accurate demographic, guarantor, and financial information; assigns the correct medical record and account number providing a database which assures accurate billing and clinical information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility & benefits utilizing a variety of online and Epic system resources. Obtains appropriate authorizations/ referrals according to payer requirements. Assures notification of admission are submitted per payor requirements.
• Complete work queues daily to correct any errors with Registrations. Provides feedback to Access Service leadership as trends are identified.
• Research and respond within 3 days to all queries on reimbursement denial notifications from insurance payers.
• Communicates issues, concerns, findings related to coverage and benefits with appropriate stake holders, including patients. Notifies patients of expected out of pocket amounts due and facilitates payment in advance or at time of service.

Background/Expertise:

• One (1) year healthcare experience, in an admitting office, clinic, physician’s office or insurance office performing patient registration and insurance verification required.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in patient registration and insurance verification, OR medical insurance billing required.
• Previous EPIC Prelude and Cadence experience preferred
• National Healthcare Access Management, Certified Healthcare Access Associate preferred
• Strong organizational skills and the abilities to prioritize work and manage time.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, and employees and as appropriate other information.
• Familiarity with contractual nature of HMO and/or PPO insurance plans, Medicare and Medicaid, commercial, workers compensation and other 3rd party payers.
• Understands the principles of teamwork, models a positive attitude, and the skills to engage in conversations that promotes problem solving and a positive exchange of individual ideas.
• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and concerns while working in a busy, multidisciplinary setting producing quality work with maximum productivity.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
