- Witchcraft Heights Elementary School: Mondays & Tuesdays, 3:15 PM - 4:40 PM
- Horace Mann Elementary School: Thursdays, 2:45 PM - 4:00 PM
Reports To: After School Program Coordinator/Director
Compensation: $30-$40/ hour depending on experience.
Position Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Dance Facilitator to lead engaging and age-appropriate dance classes for elementary school students in our after-school program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for dance and working with children, and the ability to create a fun, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The Dance Facilitator will be responsible for planning and implementing dynamic dance activities that promote physical activity, creativity, and self-expression.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Implementation:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate dance curriculum that incorporates various dance styles and techniques (e.g., creative movement, basic hip-hop, rhythm games, etc.).
- Plan and lead engaging dance classes that cater to different skill levels and abilities.
- Create lesson plans that are structured, progressive, and aligned with the program's goals.
- Incorporate warm-up, cool-down, and stretching exercises into each class
Classroom Management & Instruction:
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide clear and concise instructions and demonstrations.
- Encourage student participation and creativity.
- Manage student behavior effectively and respectfully.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Program Support:
- Prepare the dance space before and after each class.
- Maintain and organize dance equipment and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with program staff, school personnel, and parents as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Ensure student sign in and sign out procedures are followed.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children.
- Strong dance background and knowledge of various dance styles.
- Ability to create and implement engaging dance curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to manage a group of children effectively.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Background check clearance.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
