Summary
The Grounds Maintenance Person is entrusted with the maintenance of the school's grounds, gardening work, and other manual duties in the care of lawns, gardens, golf courses, shrubbery and flower beds, plants, and transplants, flowers; prunes tree; spray for control of insects and weeds, weeds and waters flower beds. Performs other related manual tasks such as cutting grass, diggings, cleaning snow, and raking leaves. Cuts greens, trees, fairways and performs other related work. Uses equipment, tools, and vehicles necessary to perform grounds maintenance work and ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in a safe, proper, and timely manner.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs any and all tasks and assignments required to properly install and care for all trees, shrubbery, plants, flowers and lawn area, public roads walkways, and parking lot areas of the Salem School Department
- Shall be required to perform all tasks and duties required to properly install, care for and maintain all athletic playing surface in compliance with M.I.A.A. regulations and guidelines
- Properly service and repair all grounds maintenance equipment including power tools, vehicles, gasoline-powered portable tools, tractors, trailers, field marking equipment, and permanent and portable irrigation equipment
- Perform other related tasks as assume other related responsibilities as may be assigned by building Principal and Director of Building Services
