Job Description
The Horace Mann Laboratory School is seeking a Math Tutor to support students in developing competence in basic mathematical skills, conceptual understanding, and problem solving. Instructional support will be delivered through individual and small group instruction.
Qualifications
Applicant must hold the following credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but working towards certification required.
- Minimum of 3-5 year teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- Proficiency in a teaching/tutoring capacity as acquired through prior experience in tutoring, teaching or other education-related experience; evidence of successful experience in student and parent relations
- Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus
- Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply
- Current authorization to work in the United States

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small group instruction for students within the context of the classroom by using specialized instructional strategies to ensure success in mathematics.
- Plan and implement student-centered, engaging math lessons based on state standards that develop student critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
- Provide progress-monitoring for students receiving additional supports.
- Maintain a weekly schedule; collaborate with others.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
This position is for 10 weeks (3/10/2025-5/30/2025).
