QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s Degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university
2. Valid New Hampshire certification
3. Minimum of five years experience in special education
4. Successful supervisory experience preferred
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services
COLLABORATES WITH: Special Education Building Coordinators and Building Administrators
JOB GOAL: To assist all students in gaining the fullest educational advantage of the school experience and to provide sound educational programs for those who benefit from special services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a liaison/LEA representative for out-of-district placements, chartered school students, and court-involved students.
Collaborates with the Student Services Director in the development and implementation of extended school year programs.
Recommend, arrange and monitor out-of-district student programs, including extended year.
Case manage all out-of-district placed students, arrange for annual reviews, staffings and re-evaluations. Maintain confidential files in compliance with State Standards.
Assist in facilitating student transitions at all levels.
Supervise, in collaboration with building administrators and Director of Student Services, the performance of Speech and Language Pathologists, SAIF examiners, school psychologists, occupational/physical therapists and COTAs, and school nurses.
Assist the Director of Special Services in developing the district special education program and the IDEA budgets.
Provide leadership in the recruitment and deployment of teaching assistants.
Participate in the recruitment, training, and mentoring of new special education staff.
Provide special education staff and administrators with counsel and assistance in determining solutions to difficulties in achieving instructional goals.
Provide direction to the student services staff in planning instructional programs related to specialized instruction, assessment, and evaluation of student performance.
Assist Director of Special Services in producing reports of special education progress for the district, the NHDOE, and the FDOE.
Oversee the implementation of special education services in accordance with the current New Hampshire rules and any updated changes in the law.
Support staff, administration, students, and parents as the leader with expertise in providing quality educational support for students with special needs.
Participate in district special services leadership meetings.
Participate in student services team meetings, as needed.
Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Special Services.
210 day position
