Job Title : Shop Lead FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Department : Manufacturing Reports to : Production Manager
Position Summary : The Shop Lead is responsible for driving quality outcomes by collaborating with leadership and effectively guiding the team. This role focuses on efficient planning and scheduling of personnel and equipment to optimize workflow, minimize bottlenecks, and enhance the final product. The Shop Lead will champion LEAN practices and continuous improvement, playing a vital role in achieving profitability and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) :
- Oversee daily shop operations, ensuring alignment with the Production Manager.
- Manage production processes and adhere to the production schedule.
- Build work packets for all production to include :
- Cut sheets
- Drawings
- Material Call Outs
- Deadlines
- Colors and Textures
- Implement and maintain 5S practices in the shop.
- Oversee and implement quality control processes on the shop floor, ensuring adherence to production standards and specifications to maintain high product quality and reduce defects.
- Ensures the following roles are in alignment with production schedule : CNC Operations, Carpentry, Fabrication, Finishing and Paint departments.
- Foster a positive work environment for all production staff.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to manage workflow effectively.
- Oversee staff timekeeping, corrections, and ensure appropriate job codes are assigned in work packets.
- Lead "Morning Huddle" meetings with all production staff in harmony with Production Schedule and daily work
- Contributes to the development of production schedule with the Production Manager.
- Oversight of Gable and Eave Stapling and labor scheduling
- Support the Production Manager in maintaining quality control standards.
- Identify when there is a need for a RCCM and consult with Production Manager
- Contribute to production when necessary in the capacity of any of the following positions :
- CNC Operator, Carpenter, Fabricator, Painter, Finisher
- Tracking inventory levels and notifying the Production Manager when orders are needed to be placed of any / all of the following :
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Hardware
- Paints and Additives
- Cutting blades and bits
- Sheet stock plastics and like substrates
- Aluminum extrusions and sheeting
- Sandpaper, adhesives, towels, putty and other like materials.
- Other materials as needed.

Expected Hours of Work / Travel : This is a full-time position in the Winston Salem office during regular business hours. Days and hours of work are dictated by the nature of the scope of work which can include long hours and weekend work. This position will not require any travel.
