Overview:

The Assistant Director will lead and co-lead efforts to support faculty in implementing high-quality learning experiences that reflect the integration of relevant theory, evidence-based practices, principles of equity and inclusion, and other appropriate concepts and practices to promote student learning and success. The Assistant Director will independently manage multiple concurrent projects, such as New Faculty Orientation, Faculty/Professional Learning Communities, and department-wide program (re)design efforts. A key focus of this position will be to provide pedagogical guidance and support for curriculum and course transformations that involve the purposeful use of technology to help accomplish objectives such as increase student engagement, strengthen the sense of community, integrate learning inside and outside the classroom, and advance inclusive pedagogy.

Additionally, this role involves some operational and administrative responsibilities in relation to program and project management, including scheduling workshops and other programming, publishing the weekly CTI newsletter, developing new resources, maintaining the CTI main website, and managing logistics, including the payment of stipends and event planning e.g. the annual Symposium on Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant master's degree
  • Experience teaching at the university level in a variety of class settings, academic levels, and modalities
  • Experience designing courses and developing digital materials for online and classroom instruction; experience with learning management software (e.g. Canvas) and video-conferencing software (e.g. Zoom)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with best practices for teaching and learning both in-person and online at the university level
  • Experience coordinating programming and presenting professional development workshops for faculty
  • Experience with project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
  • Experience with course and/or program assessment
  • Familiarity with a wide range of technology resources and their appropriate application to teaching and learning, including but not limited to learning management systems, classroom presentation media, courseware authoring systems, Web development tools, streaming audio and video, digital graphics and photography, and conferencing applications
  • Experience working in an emerging HSI or MSI institution

Working Conditions:


This is a hybrid position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities.

Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment; occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 5-10 pounds.
