Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role will play a crucial part in supporting our mission by providing financial insight and stability to our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Maintain and manage all accounting records, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow projections.
- Budgeting and Reporting:
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and provide ongoing budgetary analysis.
- Prepare financial reports for board meetings and funders.
- Conduct regular audits of financial processes and records.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Grant Management:
- Track and report on grant expenditures and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Prepare financial documentation for grant applications and renewals.
- Financial Advising:
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Executive Director and board members.
- Assist with fundraising efforts by providing financial information as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to the mission and values of Salem4Youth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA certification or working towards it.
- Experience with grant management and reporting.
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial forecasting.
