Overview: The Activities Assistant is responsible for organizing and facilitating of resident-centered activity events. Leads a variety of daily activities for both individual and groups. Activities include, but not limited to arts and crafts, recreational games, sensory stimulation, cognitive activities, discussion groups, and musical entertainment events. Activity Assistant works within regulatory requirements, adheres to organizational policies and procedures, and demonstrates a team approach and positive attitude. This position focuses on engaging residents who experience cognitive decline.
Activities Assistant Responsibilities:
- Facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
- Observing participants in order to gauge their enjoyment and obtains feedback on the events.
- Reporting medical concerns or observations.
- Ensures that all materials needed for the event are well prepared and timely.
- Provides participants with instructions for the event.
- Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.
Activities Assistant Requirements:
- High school diploma and certain certifications may be required.
- Education or experience with recreational activities in a long-term care environment is preferred
- Job training and first-aid and CPR training a plus.
- Physical fitness, ability to walk, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands
- Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize within scheduled events
- Valid drivers license

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
