What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Trainee position at SalesFirst Recruiting?
THE COMPANY
This rapidly growing company specializes in supplying construction-grade building materials to contractors nationwide. Their industrial mats division plays a key role in supporting infrastructure, commercial, and civil construction projects across the U.S. With a track record of success and a high-performance culture, they’ve built a reputation for delivering quality, speed, and reliability to a client base of professional builders, project managers, and contractors. The team operates with an informal, straight-shooting style—prioritizing results, collaboration, and professional growth over corporate fluff.
THE JOB
This is a great opportunity for an early-career sales professional who’s hungry to learn and ready to build something big. The Junior Trader will work closely with senior team members to learn the full sales lifecycle—from sourcing materials and coordinating logistics to final delivery and customer management.
During the first 9–12 months, you'll shadow experienced traders, assist with quoting and sourcing, and support outbound prospecting efforts. Once you're up to speed, you’ll begin managing B-tier accounts, developing your own customer relationships, and building a book of business. Over time, you’ll shift from learning to earning—taking on more client responsibility and building repeat business while continuing to prospect and close new accounts.
This is a high-activity, high-accountability role that requires grit, follow-through, and a willingness to pick up the phone. You’ll call on contractors, project managers, and construction decision-makers across the country. The sales cycle is fast and transactional, and follow-up is key—most wins come after multiple touches.
THE QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates bring strong fundamentals and a coachable mindset. You don’t need construction experience to succeed—but you do need hustle, curiosity, and the ability to handle rejection with professionalism.
