Job Summary:

A Denturist is a dental health professional who specializes in designing, manufacturing, and fitting custom dentures and related oral appliances. This role involves direct patient interaction, technical skill, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Consultation:
  • Conduct thorough oral examinations to assess patient needs and expectations.
  • Obtain detailed medical and dental histories.
  • Explain treatment options and answer patient questions clearly and concisely.
• Impression Taking:
  • Create accurate impressions of the patient's mouth and jaw to ensure precise denture fabrication.
  • Utilize various impression materials and techniques to capture the necessary details.
• Denture Design and Fabrication:
  • Design custom dentures that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and comfortable.
  • Utilize dental laboratory equipment and techniques to construct dentures.
  • Select appropriate materials, such as acrylic or porcelain, for denture components.
• Denture Fitting and Adjustment:
  • Insert and adjust dentures to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Make necessary modifications to optimize comfort and aesthetics.
  • Provide instructions on denture care and maintenance.
• Repairs and Relines:
  • Repair damaged dentures and reline existing dentures to maintain their fit and function.
  • Utilize various repair techniques, including heat curing and cold curing methods.
• Oral Health Education:
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, denture care, and the importance of regular check-ups.
  • Provide advice on diet and lifestyle factors that can impact oral health.

Qualifications:

• Education: Completion of a recognized denturist program.
• Licensure: Valid state or provincial denturist license.
• Clinical Skills: Proficiency in taking impressions, designing and fabricating dentures, and performing adjustments.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of dental laboratory equipment and materials.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to work with precision and accuracy.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to denture fit and function.
