Overview
Under the supervision of the Membership Coordinator, the Membership Services position is the first interaction with the members and guests. This position serves members and guests, answers the telephone, sells programs & memberships, answers questions, and performs various clerical duties.
Responsibilities
Member Engagemento Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and being approachable while always demonstrating professional conduct.o Know and use members’ names and initiate interaction with and between members.o Make members and guests feel comfortable and show interest by listening & addressing concerns and suggestions promptly.o Encourage and invite members to participate in programs and facility and ask “satisfaction questions” about their experience.o Serve as a liaison between members and program supervisors.
Clerical Taskso Answer phones and in person questions by providing information on facility services and programs and be knowledgeable and up to date on latest information on the facility and programs.o Accurately process paperwork, registrations, and receipt money transactions.o Actively complete assigned tasks to improve engagement, sales, membership, and participant experience.
Generalo Follow all YMCA policies and procedures. Must sign the Salina Family YMCA Code of Conduct, Emergency Procedures, Confidentiality and Employee Handbook policies.o Performs general cleaning duties in the membership area that may include, but are not limited to, sweeping floor, vacuuming rugs, wiping counters, and completing laundryo Attend staff meetings.o All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and must be at least 16 years old.• This person must a minimum of 6 months experience working with people and have great computer skills.• Must be service minded, solution focused and be an active problem solver.• Skilled at and understand the importance of building relationships with people.• Must have a high degree of accuracy with information provided be able to multi-task, take initiative & have effective organizational and communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS• Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.• Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.• Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.• Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.• May be required to stand for extended periods of time.• Work in different temperature environments.
