POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary:
This position schedules appointments for various hospital departments, including Radiology, NICL, Respiratory Therapy, Special Procedures, PAS, Surgery (inpatient and outpatient), Ambulatory Services, Birth Center, Laboratory, and some Cardiovascular Services. The scheduler receives routine functional guidance from the Central Scheduling Supervisors concerning policy and procedure. Schedules appointments for patients of all ages for both outpatient and some inpatient services. The role involves coordinating with different departments, entering insurance information, and organizing physician orders using Meditech Scheduling software. Scheduler will follow very specific protocols in scheduling and the collection of financial information while staying alert for situations that may require a supervisor’s review for exception. Follows professional standards and state regulations while keeping the health center's mission in mind.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
High school or equivalent
Training in medical terminology, medical diagnostic procedures, healthcare billing or 6 months relevant experience in lieu of training.
Minimum Experience
6 months experience in appointment scheduling in a healthcare environment preferred
6 months customer service experience preferred
Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Medical Terminology preferred
Required Registration/License/Certification
Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA) or 2 years of experience in relevant position in lieu of certification
