Preschool TEACHER

Provides an educational program for Preschool students.

supervises the following personnel
Plans and coordinates work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
Major duties and responsibilities
May teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, health, art, music, English Language Development, and physical education, utilizing appropriate pacing, teaching techniques and strategies.
Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law, state contract, and administrative regulations and procedures of school district.
Provides diverse learning experiences to motivate pupils.
Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Establishes and maintains (in cooperation with the school staff) standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual pupil's progress. Two parent teacher / conferences per year.
Develop and maintain lesson plans following guidelines of State preschool contract and deliver appropriate instruction.
Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with Support Personnel in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitudinal and learning problems.
Classroom environment to meet requirements of State contract. Currently Environmental rating scales.
Maintains professional competence through in-service provided by the district and / or a self-selected professional growth program.
Performs basic attendance accounting.
Conducts family workshop meetings monthly and parent orientations as indicated.
Uses technology to input data and plan for instruction.
Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Administers group standardized tests and other district / state tests in accordance with district testing program. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and / or on a district level.
minimum qualifications
Have obtained Child Development Teacher Permit / Primary Teaching Credential
- Have an AA degree
- Have current CPR and First aid
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Intermediate Spanish level of fluency or higher.
BA degree in Early Childhood Education or related subject.
EXPERIENCE
Evidence of working in an early childhood education program.
Work effectively with children and parents in a variety of settings and different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
