Program Outline - One year part-time student teacher assignment in a mentor's classroom - Awarded a preliminary credential at the conclusion of the program - Gradual release teaching model - Pairs training for student teacher and master teacher -10 hours of mentor training for master teacher - Participation in district-sponsored professional development - Participation in school-wide meetings, including parent conferences - Monthly residency meetings with district New Teacher Support Specialist - Must be willing to work at least 4 years in the Salinas Union High School District Welcome to the Salinas Union High School District (SUHSD)! Program Qualifications - Math, science and special education candidates - Bachelor's degree or enrolled in a BA credential program - CBEST and CSET (if applicable) requirement fulfilled - Prerequisite coursework completed (18 units) - Acceptance into CSUMB teacher preparation program in special education, math, science, social studies and ELA or Candidate in the UCSC MA/Credential Program - Desire to teach in the Salinas Union High School District for at least 4 years - Local ties to the community is a priority, but not a must - Substitute Teacher Permit through CTC or Montere County Office of Education is required
