Job Description
A Sonographer , also known as an Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer , is a healthcare professional who uses ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. These imaging procedures help physicians to examine and diagnose a range of conditions related to organs and tissues inside the body. Sonographers are skilled in producing high-quality images that assist in the diagnosis of medical conditions, as well as in guiding certain medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Patient Preparation :
Greet patients and explain the ultrasound procedure, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
Operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images of organs, tissues, blood vessels, and other areas of the body (e.g., abdomen, heart, pelvis, obstetric imaging , etc.).
Ensure that the patient remains still and comfortable during the exam to achieve clear images.
Review images for clarity and completeness before submitting them for interpretation by a physician or radiologist.
Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure accurate interpretation of ultrasound results.
Maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is properly cleaned, calibrated, and ready for use at all times.
Provide patients with pre- and post-exam instructions, including any necessary follow-up care or referrals.
Follow all safety protocols, including infection control measures, to ensure patient safety and the proper use of medical equipment.
