Qualifications
- Valid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification
- Has completed:
- At least two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to a minimum of 60 post secondary credits) or;
- Associates degree or higher or;
- Passing score on Michigan Test for Teacher Certification or;
- Passing score on ETS Parapro Assessment
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- CPR, AED, First Aid Certification preferred
- NVCI Training / Certification preferred
- Exemplary, regular and predictable attendance is essential and expected
- Employee must be physically on-site and alert at all times
- Support students' needs which can vary, from ASD to ADHD, OCD, EI, PTSD and a variety of intellectual disabilities.
- Implement prescribed positive behavior support plans
- Assist with classroom management and respond to undesirable behaviors by replacing with desired behaviors
- Maximize student access to the curriculum and create student independence
- Work 1:1 with a student or a floating position to support numerous students
- Help ensure IEP goals/needs are met within the special education setting and general education setting
- Collect, record and summarize data on observable student behavior
- Build and maintain the positive school and classroom culture held within this school district
- Demonstrate commitment to the pursuit of excellence across all duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by building administrators
- Build positive relationships with students
- Support students in a variety of settings such as the community, job sites, field trips, recreation, and swimming
- Utilize Non Violent Crisis Intervention approach when dealing with challenging physical behaviors
- Perform duties necessary to support students who need assistance with daily life/health related activities as assigned by the case manager
- Maintain student confidentiality
- Demonstrate a professional demeanor with parents and colleagues
- Work collaboratively with colleagues
- Maintain clear and complete communication with the case manager and colleagues
- Respect the role of the case manager and teachers as the primary contacts with parents
- Communicate directly with parents only to the extent approved by the case manager and refer all other questions to the case manager

Terms Of Employment
- Ten month, school year position. Approx. 6.75 hours per day, 5 days per week, (specific hours to be set by employer)
- Wages and benefits as defined by the ESP collective bargaining agreement
- Starting wage $19.00 - $20.50 per hour depending upon experience
- Full time (scheduled for 30 or more hours per week) are eligible for full medical, dental, vision, life and LTD benefits OR, if covered elsewhere, $7,500 cash-in-lieu of benefits
