Salary Information:
Starting wage is $16.19/hr.
Job Duties Include:
Provides patients with personal care and homemaking assistance, which due to their physical or mental limitations, are unable to provide their own personal care or homemaking. Provides and assists patients with bathing including tub bath, shower, bed bath, sponge bath and/or partial bath. Assists with shampoo/set hair. Provides and assists with shaving including straight or electric razor. Applies lotion and/or powder to skin. Assesses and reports any skin issues to Registered Nurse. Provides wound care to patients as instructed by Registered Nurse. Brushes teeth and/or dentures and provides oral care. Cleans nails to include trimming fingernails and toenails. Empties foley dependent drainage bag as needed and performs catheter care. Takes and records vital signs. Performs bowel care as needed including enemas, suppositories, and digital stimulation. Performs ostomy care as needed. Notifies RN of any concerns or changes. Assists patients with dressing and undressing. Puts on or takes off TED hose. Transfers or assists patient in getting up and down, in or out of chair, shower or tub and bed. Operates mechanical lift such as Hoyer, sit to stand and ceiling lift to maintain patient safety while transferring. Assists patients with ambulation to ensure safety. Positions patient to sit, stand, turn, and move up or down in bed. Reminds patient to take medications. Performs housekeeping and homemaking duties consisting of washing dishes, wiping countertops, wiping off kitchen appliances, checking and cleaning refrigerator, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, dusting, removing trash, spot cleaning inside windows and walls, cleaning toilet, sink, tub, or shower, making beds and changing linens, washing, drying, folding, and putting away laundry. Assembles meals at patient’s request. Prepares future meals and freezes. Does grocery shopping. Upon entering and exiting certain patients’ homes, calls Kansas AuthentiCare for time documentation. Attends Staff meeting with Home Health Registered Nurses and Coordinator for patient reporting. Has knowledge of and compliance with Department policies and procedures. Must complete the National Incident Management System training. Maintains certification in CPR and yearly blood-borne pathogen training. Reports for work during public health emergencies as needed. Job may require occasional weekend/evening visits. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Must have CNA/HHA current certification for State of Kansas.
- Must have good communication skills to work with Staff and public in a congenial manner.
- An ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
- Must have basic computer data entry.
- A proven ability to plan and organize work.
- Must be flexible and be able to adapt to different tasks.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and must provide own transportation.
- Home Health Aide Class is mandatory for aides. Must be completed and passed within 90 days of hire.
Physical Requirements:
Determined Work Level: Level 3 – Medium Work: The applicant must attain a 2.5 score or above score on their physical capacity profile. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Ability to hear directions and ability to communicate ideas by means of the spoken word when interacting with Staff and public. Must have fine and gross manual dexterity to operate the telephone, calculator, typewriter and computer.
