Job Specifications/Qualifications
Basic computer skill requires
One year clerical experience preferred
Experience in a health care setting preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
This position does not require any certifications/ licenses/registries
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Maintains patient chart/record
- Ensures that required forms are replenished daily and prn in patient charts.
- Reviews charts daily for correct patient identification and proper order of forms.
- Accurately processes orders, charges and patient information in to the computer.
- Prepares patient charts for Medical Records Department on discharge patients.
Performs clerical and receptionist duties.
- Ensures an appropriate level of forms, supplies and equipment on a daily basis, as
indicated by availability to staff.
- Maintains clean and neat work area.
- Facilitates the procurement, storage and return of past medical records.
- Demonstrates competency in using the computer system. (I.e. physician orders, supplies, ancillary service requests and appointment.
- Answers telephone/call lights promptly using appropriate communication skills to screen calls, record and route calls and messages to appropriate department(s)
- Responds appropriately to patent and family request.
Supportive Services
- Acts as a courier between the unit/department and other ancillary departments as needed to meet daily unit/department requirements.
- Informs appropriate department of defective equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of role in emergency situations and reacts appropriately.
Professional Performance
- Learns and practices cost effective use of supplies.
- Utilizes available communication tools (e-mail, staff meetings, and bulletin boards) toremain informed.
- Consistently demonstrates that new knowledge and skills gained from education are incorporated into actual practice.
- Completes 100% of required staff education classes.
- Attends 80% of the staff meetings.
- Shares knowledge and expertise with nursing staff and other members of the health
care team.
